The NHS is offering a free MenB (meningococcal B) vaccination to eligible young people as part of a new vaccination programme to help protect against meningitis and septicaemia.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible if you are:
- 17 or 18 years old and were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, or
- Under 25 (born on or after 21 July 2001) and starting university or residential further education for the first time this autumn.
The vaccine is given as 2 doses, at least 4 weeks apart.
How to book
GP practices are not involved in delivering this vaccination programme and cannot book appointments.
If you are eligible, you can book your vaccination online to receive it at a participating pharmacy:
- Book your appointment: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-a-menb-vaccination-appointment/
- Read more about the programme: https://www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/getting-free-nhs-meningococcal-b-menb-vaccinations/
If you think you may be eligible, please use the NHS booking service rather than contacting the practice, as we are unable to arrange these appointments.
