If you regularly pay for NHS prescriptions, you may be able to save money with an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC).
A PPC covers all your NHS prescriptions for a fixed price, regardless of how many items you need during the period of cover. For many patients who take regular medication, this can work out significantly cheaper than paying for each prescription individually.
Is a PPC right for you?
A Prescription Prepayment Certificate may be worth considering if you:
- take regular medication for a long-term condition;
- collect more than one prescription each month;
- have recently started treatment that is likely to continue for several months.
What options are available?
You can choose from:
- A 3-month PPC – suitable if you need several prescriptions over a short period.
- A 12-month PPC – ideal for patients who need medication throughout the year. The cost can also be spread over monthly Direct Debit payments.
Don't forget...
Many people are entitled to free NHS prescriptions because of their age, medical condition or benefits they receive. Before purchasing a PPC, it's worth checking whether you're eligible for free prescriptions.
