Primary
Health Care Team
The doctors work in close contact with our Nurse
Practitioner, practice nurses, district nurses,
community midwives and health visitors. This is
collectively known as the Primary Health Care
Team. In addition to these staff, a wide range
of other health care professionals contribute to
the services provided in the surgery and the
community.
Nurse Practitioner
Sister Melanie Rogers is our Nurse
Practitioner. She joined us in September 2005
and is a fully qualified Nurse Practitioner. She
works three days a week - Monday, Tuesday and
Friday - and runs her own surgeries, seeing
patients with minor illnesses by appointment.
She is able to issue prescriptions. If you ring
for an urgent appointment, you may be offered an
appointment with Sister Rogers.
Practice Nurses
The practice nurses are available from Monday to
Friday during surgery hours for appointments.
They run Diabetic, CHD, COPD, Asthma and Smoking
Cessation clinics, as well as dealing with blood
pressure checks, dressings, minor injuries,
immunizations, family-planning advice, travel
advice, cervical smears, warts/verrucas, general
health checks, dietary advice, routine
blood/urine tests and ear syringing.
Sister Stephanie Haydock
Sister Amanda Bodenham
Sister Clare Booth
Sister Sharon Lax
Health Care Assistant
Debbie Kaye joined the practice in May 2005. She
supports the nursing team, performing BPs, ECGs,
phlebotomy and new patient health checks.
District Nurses
These services are arranged through your doctor.
As with doctor home-visiting, nurse visits are
reserved for those with clinical need. The
nurses are based at Wetherby Health Centre and
can be contacted on (01937) 522 777.

Health Visitors
These work in close liaison with the doctors.
Their services, for expectant and post-natal
mothers and new babies/young children, are
accessible both through the surgery and through
Wetherby Health Centre on (01937) 522 777.

Jackie Page
Community Midwife
We work closely with Sister Val McCulloch, who
looks after both our antenatal and postnatal
women. She runs regular clinics and does regular
home visits. She liaises closely with the
hospital services.
We do not, however, do routine home deliveries. |
